Video Transcript for Checking Out the Conventional Ramp Door Spring for 6' Wide Snowmobile Trailer

Jeff: Hello everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're going to take a look at this conventional single spring, single drum ramp door spring for up to a six foot wide, enclosed trailer, has an 80 pound spring capacity. Now this part will replace your old trailer door spring with this nice heavy duty conventional ramp door spring. This ramp door spring will let you easily lift and lower the door on your enclosed trailer without risk of injury. It is designed to help take on the weight of the trailer door so that you don't have to.

This one here happens to be a single spring and a single drum system. A single spring is on the torsion rod has this cable drum here with the lift cable at the one end to lift the door. It only uses one cable to lift the door in this application. And this system is normally used in snowmobile trailers to help reduce the potential for catching a ski in the cable. This spring does reduce the wear helps prevent damage to the door hinges. Now, when you do install this, the spring is designed to be mounted one way for proper operation.

And the way you can tell that is if you look at the cable drum, it'll be stamped with an R, which means for the right side. And they do also spray painted black here for visual indication of knowing that that's for the right side. The right side is designed to mount on the curb side of the trailer. Now this part will include everything laid out here on the table. The spring itself, the mounting brackets, the hardware for the mounting brackets, the bearing, gives you 150 inches of one eighth inch diameter cable and hardware to install that. And then the set screw cover.

Now this spring system can be modified to fit your specific application. You can slide the bearing and the mounting bracket where needed, and then just cut the shaft to a shorter length. So if we put the bearing on, let's say, you're going to go all the way, to narrow as possible. And if you put the mounting bracket on. So you can see what that all installed, it will fit any words from if we measure this portion 34 and three quarter inch wide trailer door, all the way up to the widest, which would be sixty six and seven eighths inches wide. Now this is a nice sturdy steel construction.

It is made in the USA. Few specs, again. The overall length from this end, all the way to this end is going to be right at sixty six and seven-eighths inches long. The drum diameter, which is the widest diameter on this is about four and three quarter inches diameter. And the spring capacity, as we mentioned, is 80 pounds. But that should do it for the review on this conventional single spring, single drum ramp door spring for up to a six foot wide enclosed trailer, has an 80 pound spring capacity.

  • Recommended Garage Door Spring for a 5' Wide Trailer Door
Hey Michael! I would be happy to help you with the spring assist but we do not have a ramp door for you. I've got a couple options for springs depending on the weight of the door/ramp you choose to go with. These come with all mounting hardware necessary to get them set up. I have listed them below: 80 lbs Capacity - Conventional Ramp Door Spring item # M384FR 120 lbs Capacity - Conventional Ramp Door Spring item # 362SA6

  • Overhead Ramp Spring for Use with 80 Lb Trailer Ramp
If the weight you would be lifting is the weight of 80 lbs then yes you'd only need the part # M384FR to help lift it. This would have enough capacity and could be wound to basically make the ramp feel like its very light.

  • Difference Between Conventional Ramp Door Spring for 6' Wide Enclosed Trailer # M364FR and M384FR
The Conventional Ramp Door Spring for 6' Wide Enclosed Trailer # M364FR has two spools that cables can attach to which gives a bit more flexibility in how it can be used whereas the # M384FR only has a single spool. I attached review videos for both for you to check out as well.

  • Replacement Ramp Door Spring Assembly for a Cargo Trailer Ramp Door
The spring assemblies are pretty universal and can be cut to length depending on what size you need. The Conventional Ramp Door Spring for 7' Wide Enclosed Trailer - Dual Spring - 120-lb Capacity item # ERS120D81 will work for your Carry-On 6X12CGR7K. You will have to shorten the bar to get it down to the 66" wide you require. If you don't have experience working with torsion springs I recommend you contact a garage door installer. Each spring has to be wound a quarter turn at a time 30-40...

  • Are Trailer Ramp Door Torsion Springs Available as Separate Items
Unfortunately, we don't offer the torsion springs as an individual item. I'd recommend the # M384FR 6-foot spirng assembly which includes the shaft, drums, cable and all the needed hardware for installation. Keep in mind, those torsion springs are wound up with an incredible amount of force so for the sake of safety you'll want a professional to handle the installation for you. I can remember helping a friend to install a similar spring on a garage door years ago. He was using a screwdriver...
